Catherine
Asuncion joined Niddrie Addams Fuller Singh LLP as Of Counsel after
serving for three years as a Senior Attorney at the California Court of
Appeal, Fourth Appellate District, Division One. She worked
closely with each of the appellate justices, made recommendations
regarding the resolution of cases, and prepared draft opinions in civil,
criminal, and juvenile dependency appeals. She also acted as a
gatekeeper to ensure civil appeals were timely and raised an appealable
issue prior to briefing.
Before joining the court, Catherine had substantial experience
litigating civil appeals in a wide range of areas of law, in state and federal
court. She returned to private practice with the strategic advantage of
having reviewed appellate briefs and analyzed legal issues from the court’s
perspective. Catherine’s extensive understanding of the appellate
process, coupled with her inside knowledge of how the court handles and decides
cases, provides our clients with an upper hand.
Community Involvement
Catherine
Asuncion is a volunteer mentor with Urban Surf 4 Kids, an organization
dedicated to empowering youth in foster and at-risk communities who have
experienced complex trauma become independent adults, leaders in the
community, and champions for the environment. Through monthly
outings, Catherine has the rewarding opportunity to make personal
connections with these youth and be part of a consistent community they
learn they can count on. With all her family living in Hawaii where
she grew up, this program is a happy reminder of the impact of having a
sense of kinship.
